Today we examine the possibility of creating a blog dedicated to lightbulbs, and the feasibility of monetizing this niche blog. The lightbulbs niche is not a very popular one, although there is a strong online market for lightbulbs. People usually buy lightbulbs from their local stores and hardwares since they have this impression that bulbs can break during shipment.
As start exploring the possibilities of a lightbulbs blog, we ask these questions:

Amazon is promoting Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) which consume 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and last up to 10 times longer. If you want to laser-target this subniche, it could be profitable because Amazon is funneling sales to their CFL Store.
Another subniche is LED light bulb. LED lightbulbs are priced as high as $60 so you could get bigger commissions promoting this subniche instead of ordinary lightbulbs
The subniche with the toughest competition is the halogen bulbs market. As you can see from the screenshot, it has a daily search volume of 5,000+ but has 6,340,000 search results competing. The obvious reason for this is that halogen bulbs not only used at home but these are very popular in the automotive and car mods industry.
On the next installment of this series, we will take a closer look at these subniches and actually build a blog on a free blog hosting platform.
