Video blogging: How to see yourself when recording with the Flip camera

Based on a report by Gideon Shalwick of RapidVideoBlogging, I bought the Flip UltraHD from Amazon and it arrived last Friday. I used it to shoot a few clips of the kids, the house and even my pet dog Lucy and I was impressed with the ease of use and the HD quality. But when it was time to take a recording of myself, I realized one bit of a problem — I can’t see what’s being recorded.

Since I was recording on my desk,  I simply placed the Flip UltraHD camera infront of the PC monitor so I can see the viewfinder as reflected on the PC monitor screen. But Outdoors, I just had toguess where the lens is pointing to. It takes a bit of practice to know the good distance and height where you will hold your camera to record yourself talking.

I went to Staples yesterday and had a look at the Sony Bloggie which had a rotating LCD viewer. Wish the Flip Ultra HD had this but of course that won’t happen.

So I was glad to see that Gideon has posted a guide on how to solve this problem. Watch the video below, to find out an ingenious way to see yourself while recording with the Flip camera:
